DPH COMMERCIAL CORE | DANA POINT, CA

The project is designed as a contemporary coastal village built over time through a series of related, yet unique architectural interventions. The architectural language reimagines the idea of a California Coastal style, blending traditional design elements and contemporary building forms.
A pedestrian boardwalk organizes a variety of one and two-story buildings flanked by a revitalized marina and carefully curated landscape. The green areas feature a network of meandering paths connecting ground floor patios, outdoor dining spaces, intimate seating areas, and larger-scale activity zones. Native grasses and plants buffer these pockets of activity forming a layered visual and social experience. A pedestrian walkway on the second level acts as an extension of the ground-level boardwalk experience. The pier-like structure bridges between individual building structures and functions as an observation deck capitalizing on panoramic ocean views.
A variety of façade treatments relate to the diversity of architectural styles found in Dana Point and reinforce the concept of the buildings being built over time. An eclectic mix of natural finishes, murals, sustainably sourced reclaimed woods, and a rich palette of accent metals add a sense of individuality to every building element.
